Open and edit objects
A contact, invoice or task: working with objects in AIOS follows a shared pattern.
How it fits together.
An object is one item with its own context, such as a contact, task, file or invoice. You can open the same item from a collection or a link. A side panel keeps the previous view in the background; a full-page view gives richer content more room. The display adapts to the object type.
The display helps you understand an item; the form edits its fields. Actions combines general and object-specific operations, such as connections, responsible people, tags or a custom function. Available actions depend on model capabilities and your access. A missing menu item therefore does not necessarily mean the capability is absent from the whole system.
Step by step in AIOS
Open an object from a database, search result or link. It appears in a side panel or on its own page depending on context.
Use the side panel for a quick inspection without leaving the collection. Choose full-page view when related content needs more room; the underlying item remains the same.
Read the object-specific details. Tabs show related content and relationships.
Read more than the name. Description, linked items and model-specific tabs help establish what the item concerns and where the next step belongs.
Choose Actions → Edit when editing is available. Update the fields and save your changes.
Edit opens the fields for this object type. Complete displayed required fields, save, and check the new value in the display.
Actions provides further options depending on the object: responsible people, tags, connections, functions, duplicate or export.
Begin with a clear description, as in the example below. Add responsible people, tags and connections through the available actions; custom functions may request additional inputs.
AIOSAn example for your work.
Goal: Prepare the customer kickoff meeting.
Context: Linked contact and attached project brief.
Output: An agenda with three topics and a list of open questions.
Done when: The draft is saved in the project and reviewed.Copy this structure into your task description and add the actual contact and project context.
Which view do I need?
| Area | Meaning in daily work |
|---|---|
| Display | Read details and model-specific content. |
| Form | Change and save the offered fields of an item. |
| Actions | Connections, responsible people, custom functions and other permitted operations. |
| In-place editing | Documents, canvases and dashboards are edited on their work surface. |
If something does not work.
- Edit is missing: Check object type and access. Documents, canvases and dashboards use in-place editing.
- A change is missing: Check whether the form saved successfully and whether required fields show errors.
